Day of 1000 steps

We started off taking the metro to the Sacre Coeur. Hopping off at the nearest station, we discovered the station was under renovation and a sign said, "En courage! Seulment 90 marche". They lied. There were at least 100 steps. Ngila has kindly been Sheelagh's walking stick as we negotiate the metro stations stairs and she provided the "courage" to get her grandmother to the top.

For the rest of the way to the church there was a funicular - yahoo.

Ngila climbed the 300+ steps to the dome.
She then raced down the steps to beat the funicular carrying Sheelagh back to the metro station. Sheelagh point blank refused to use that station again and we wandered through the streets of Monmartre to the next stop.

Then it was sauntering and playing in the Jardin du Luxembourg.

Strolling along the streets of Saint Michel

to Notre Dame where some pigeon chasing took place. We think the pigeons of Paris are too stout for their own good.

Our last stop was for gelato on the Ile St Louis. After 1000 steps, gelato is hard to beat.
3 very tired tourists were glad to flop in our tiny apartment.
