Goodbye To The Orknies

Today was a change over day. We had lots of time to get underway as the ferry didn’t leave until noon, so we got ourselves packed up and cleaned up a bit and easily made it back to St. Margaret’s Hope on time.

There was a bit of a question as to the ferry running as the winds were high, but our mighty little ship arrived and left without a whimper. The crossing went without a problem, but we were all sure it was because Sheelagh stood outside the wheel house keeping a close eye on things.

The drive down the east coast was beautiful. The waves were crashing, and we passed several large private castles on various headlands. It was spectacular.

Just before Inverness we moved inland and made our way down the north shore of Loch Ness to our place in St Augustus. It is an old Benedictine Monastery called Aonach Mor. It is on 20 acres of lawns and woodlands. It is a bit Harry

Potterish inside and out. We arrived after dark in pouring rain, so we have no pictures yet. We will provide some tomorrow.

We are here for a week and will have many adventures I’m sure.
