We had a good run up yesterday from Anstruther to our place just outside of Elgin on the northeast coast of Scotland. We stopped at Balmoral to see the castle but - can you believe it - the Queen was in residence and wouldn't ley us in. The bobby on duty said alot of Canadians had tried to get in and she'd turned us all away. We have the Gate Lodge on The Kellas Estate for the next 2 nights. It's a huntin and shootin place with pheasants everywhere. What it doesn't have is a telephone, mobile service, internet or a washing machine. It makes up for that with it's charm.
As we drove up yesterday we passed through Cairngorms National Park. This is a stunningly beautiful space in Scotland. It has few trees, but rolling hills and small streams (burns, I speak Scot) running about. You can point a camera in any direction and get good photos.
