The Burrens

Sheelagh and Von were both very good at searching out interesting things to see on our trips together and today was a good example of their sleuthing. The Burrens. During the carboniferous era this area was a lush tropical ocean with a wide variety of life forms that were pressed down into a layer of lime stone that has been shaped by water and wind ever since.
We saw an entrance to a new stone age burial chamber from about 3000 BC.
We only saw a small part of the  area and will go back tomorrow to see more if the weather allows.
