At Sally Gap

Yesterday was a bit of a busted flush. The Enterprise Car Rental people were very late picking us up at the Hostel so it was noon before we got out of Dublin. We had to just drive most of the afternoon.
We got off the motorway as soon as we could and headed off into the Wicklow Mountains, beautiful heather covered hills.

Von tackled the narrow road over Sally Gap, the highest point, like a pro. As a reward, she ordered the roast beef special of the day at our late lunch stop at Roundwood, highest village in Ireland. It came with 3 scoops of mashed potatoes, 3 large roasted potato balls, 1/2 kilo of roast beef and boiled veggies. Since she'd driven like a trucker, we guess she wanted to eat like a trucker! The rest of us ate much more modestly.
This is what Von left after manfully tucking in.

After lunch, we got back in the fast lane and drove to our home for 3 nights on the Hook Peninsula, County Wexford. We have no internet or phone in our home so will keep in touch as best we can.

  1. nice work Von! George, don't you wish they would "bring back the '90s"; those good old days when you were allowed to eat like a trucker?
