We had our lunch there and then joined a whirlwind tour with a guide who briefly touched the highlites of each room as we went along. Along with an organ recital, it was not sufficient for Sheelagh who claims that she has not had nearly enough time and must return next week. Reading about Ngila's love for touring and reading the signs, I think that Sheelagh and Ngila must go together. They sound like a good pair. We finished Friday with a supper and quiet evening with Dorian.
Saturday started at the Glasgow Museum of Transportation which a friend had recommended. This is a new addition to the city and it is wonderful. The building itself is the art, to quote Ngila. It is a futuristic design and houses a vast jumble of street cars, buses, boats, trains, cars motorcycles and, it seems, the world's oldest bicycle. In the end, hunger dragged Dorian and I away, with Sheelagh, again, kicking and screaming bout not enough time. We will return. Unlike Canada, Britain's museums and galleries are free. So, we can return. After a late lunch in a pub, we returned home via a long walk through our neighbourhood. It's filled with little pockets of shops.
Today was supposed to be our Edinburgh day and so, after being awakened by our (borrowed) cell phone, we hustled off to the train station to meet Dorian. We boarded the train and sat; we were told to move to another train where we sat; the train pulled away and then stopped and we sat; the train returned to the station and we were told to leave the train and not go to Edinburgh. I don't know, it's the thing about train travel on Sunday again. We decided to go for coffee and then we attended the church service at the St George's Tron Church and it was excellent.
After church we decided to go to the The Stables Pub just past Bishopbriggs for Sunday roast, and then walk back along the canal into Bishopbriggs and then bus into the city. It was a beautiful day with our lad, lots of laughter and some serious discussion of World War II, which Dorian is studying in his history class and life in general.
Tomorrow, we'll give Edinburgh another shot. See you later.
