We had a very pleasant day today. We started off with a lazy morning followed by a stroll to the Rail Station to pick up our tickets for the trip to Dorian's place tomorrow. We checked out Stroud's charming shops where we got a few things to see us through.
After a pulled pork lunch, thanks to our resident Sgt. White, AKA Malcolm, we took off in the car for a tour of the local Cotswolds. We were mainly interested in Uley, where Malcolm and Delyth lived before they came to Stroud. Uley is a tiny village tucked in a valley. At this time of year it is beautifully tinted in fall colours.
The hills and valleys in this part of England are truly breath taking being everything you imagine of classic English character. The villages are mainly gray stone cottages with little gardens, joined by single track lanes.
As at least two of our readers know, all roads lead to Minchin,Bloody Hampton. The cows were grazing quietly and as we passed by they asked us to send their regards to the Grahams. Then they looked at each other and chuckled.
If you enjoyed the British TV program LARKRISE TO CANDLEFORD, you might be interested that we drove past the big house used by the Lord of the manor, Sir Timothy. Very impressive.
We had a lovely day and feel quite ready to face another round of rail travel tomorrow. So we shall blog next from Glasgow.
Sorry, I'm confused, did you say, 'Stroud's charming shoppes'? We must check them out on our next visit. Greetings to M&D! Thanks for the pics - I've not yet seen a Cotswold village I didn't love. No, that's not true: M-bloody-H has scarred us forever! Happy travels and keep up the blogging! K for us both
