A Bunch of Gypsies

The Snowy Hills of Arran
The Southwest of Scotland
We seem to have been in a state of turmoil since the Kemisters left. We had one more day to explore the South Argyle region. We had a beautiful sunny day and drove down to Newton Stewart and back. It was pleasant enough, but I was already thinking about getting the car into central Glasgow by 9:30 am the next day so my heart wasn't in Newton Stewart.

One of our views of St Andrews
We spent the evening getting everything jambed back into the backpacks in preparation for an early start. We had to leave the castle key in a locked panel which had a keypad code to punch in. Even in daylight the numbers and letters were very hard to see, so in the middle of the night I start to worry how we were going to see to get the key back in in the darkness of early morning. My brainy wife says, "No problem. We just take the flashlight from the flat and leave it on the ground by the keypad."

Since I had no other idea, we decided to adopt that approach. So picture us now in the courtyard of a deserted castle, in the dark, withe me on my knees poised for action and Sheelagh holding the flashlight yelling at me, "Find the C! Find the C!" Anyway we made it and the flashlight got left back inside the front door of the flat.

The beach at St Andrews
The drive to Glasgow went swimmingly. We drove the 50 miles to Glasgow, dropped the car off, took a cab to the bus station and travelled the rest of the way across Scotland to St Andrews and made it by 11 am. That's not bad, even for me.
18th fairway

The flat in St Andrews is very nice even though there are a lot of steps up to it. We spent today, (Saturday) exploring. We found a great market for supplies. We watched a few golfers play the 18th hole on THE OLD COURSE and then walked on the beach for a while. Dorian who had to work all day, is coming over for supper and that's great. His Mum will spoil him to pieces for these next few days.
