We were warmly greeted at church. Everyone was quick to tell us that their minister was from Saskatchewan. Unfortunately, he was on a week's holiday. We met a young girl from Edmonton here as an au pair on her gap year and a lady from Montreal, who has invited us to tea. Next Sunday is a special service unveiling a plaque in memory of those from the 48th Highland Regiment who died during the liberation of Sicily. We were invited back for that and had to hide our ignorance about this bit of Canadian history.
In this affulent neighbourhood, we found a new, new, new favourite for lunch. It had begun to rain as we came out of the cafe and one of us had set off without his jacket. On the 20 minute march home, 15 umbrella salesmen tried to sell him shelter from the storm. The 16th just looked at this drenched speciman and kept on walking.
