Over the Sea to Man

The rain was coming down enthusiastically when we were picked up outside the Berkeley. A 10 minute drive brought us to the Port of Heysham where the ferry awaited us.
It was a 3 1/2 hour crossing to Douglas, capital of the Isle of Man. As we crossed the Irish Sea, we passed by the largest off shore wind farm in the world.
About 190 turbines gracefully churn out enough energy to power over 600,000 British homes. It was very impressive. They certainly had enough wind on this day.

As we approached Douglas, the rain stopped.

We easily found the bus to Port Erin, at the very south of the IOM. On the 40 minute ride, John quickly became part of the community, chatting animatedly with Eileen and hearing all about island history. As each rider boarded the bus, they shouted, "Hiya. Y'alright?",  John joining in enthusiastically.
Four tired oldies trudged up the hill from the bus stop to Windways. I think we'll be very comfortable here.
