One Side To Other

Saturday was moving day. We were up and away by shortly after nine. We decided that the time gave us the luxury of using small roads. So we went straight west in rather a zig zag sort of pattern, 150 miles, we figure. With a 40 minute break for Von to eat her 4 pounds of scrambled eggs at Louloubell's, we rolled up to the ferry to the Isle of Arran in just 5 hours. Cool!

The trip began in the valley of the Tweed River. This is an idyllic stream much favoured by fly fishers. The greens were rich and varied. The villages were lovely and many had Saturday markets in full swing. We particularly like Peebles and Biggar.

Leaving the Tweed, the Clyde Valley was rolling farmland.

The Ferry took about 40 to 45 minutes to cross the Firth of Clyde to Arran.

Arran is approx 60 miles all the way around. We picked up a few things at the Co op before driving the 11 miles across to #5 Harbourview.

Blackwaterfoot is our little village and we do indeed have a view.

After a half of the local cask ale (me) and Pimms (Shush), we did a little explore.

John contemplated the bridge and considered the Arran security system.

All were satisfactory.

And so to bed

  1. oh, I missed this episode - so I didn't know you had gone to Arran on the ferry. Looks like you had a very nice drive across - I love all the village names. Hope you were able to visit Innerleithen, and Fishwick :) And the River Tweed is the border! Happy travels! K
