Windstorm Upon Tweed

Yesterday we decided to do a little exploring in Berwick Upon Tweed, our nearest town.  We began by going up onto the walls of this old medieval town. It was a fortress town, first within Scotland, then in England. The Tudors built the wall to keep out the marauding Scots.  The walls are now a walkway around the old town.

As we walked, the winds picked up and it was soon quite unpleasant.

Then the trees started to fall.  Sheelagh's sun glasses were blown from her head and we had to chase them down the street. We ducked into the Mule On Rouge, a delightful cafe on a back street. When we came out a metal street work sign broke loose and flew down the street.

We pushed our way back to the car and headed back home. A whole tree was across the road. We had to wind through some lanes, dodging branches, to get to our farm.

It is a beautiful town and we enjoyed the scenery along the river.

Storm Ali certainly made himself known.
