Have More Towels!!!

The trip from the IOM to Berwick Upon Tweed was uneventful EXCEPT for our meeting with Dorian's friend, Laura, who joined us for dinner in Glasgow. And, of course, it was exciting to see Dorian again after 9 months. Laura is a lovely young woman. It was a pleasure spend a little time with them and we look forward to other such opportunities at the end of our trip.

Speaking of Glasgow, we had a funny incident at the Euro Hostel. Our family room had a faulty shower. When John and Von told the management, the response was, "We are so sorry! Please have free towels!" And then, when the hot water failed to appear, we received free breakfasts and, "Here, have more Towels." John was sent to a different floor to take a shower, and when he came out of the shower room, he turned the wrong way and ended up locked out on the fire escape, clutching his undies and FREE towel. He had to go up a few floors to get back into the building. So, Have More Towels! has become our rallying cry.

We drove across to our next stay and on the way we visited Rosslyn Chapel. This was made famous by the DaVinci Code book and film. And they are very grateful for the thousands of visitors as it was falling to wrack and ruin.

This church is the private chapel of the St Clair family. It is said to have several Masonic carvings inside. We couldn't take pictures inside, but it is spectacular. This is a carving on the outside.

Moving on, we reached our digs near Berwick Upon Tweed by evening. This is an incredibly neat working farm which has many sheep in the paddocks.

The Middle Cottage is one of five rental units which you approach by a grand drive. It was good to breathe the fresh rural air,

  1. Glad to see you back. I love the name Berwick upon Tweed - there's got to be a story there! And any story involving undies, a towel and someone stuck on a fire-escape is a keeper. Thanks for this.
