Today was a day best described by pictures. We travelled south to Connemara
We drove out of the fog into brilliant sunshine and beautiful scenery at Leenaun .
Next we saw Kylemore Abby a bit further south. It had been built in 1865 by a man as a gift to his wife. When Sheelagh started making noises about following suit, I reminded her the wife died 10 years later. It is now the convent for an order of Benedictine nuns , refugees from Ypres during WW1.
Before we reached Clifton, we did a part of the Sky Road around a peninsula thrusting out into the Atlantic. The road was closed so we had to retrace our steps into Clifton for lunch.
We crossed the Roundstone Blanket Bog. I went exploring and almost became a bogman even though I hadn't used my French hair gel. A little frightening.
Then curling back north we circled behind the 12 Bens in Connemara National Park.
these are some great pics G! thanks. K
