On Sunday night we sat beneath the olive tree by our place and read our books until the last bit of light bid us goodnight. Then a full moon rose in the east, the photo makes it look normal, but it was orange, and our landlord, Nikos, strolled by and said gravely,"The last moon of summer.", and then he moved on.
It's been so warm, and endlessly sunny, here that we forget that fall is soon upon us.
The sea has been calm the last few days and we've had the beach to ourselves. There have been large tourist vessels passing by on their way to Shipwreck Bay. We won't go there - too busy. On Wednesday, we hope to visit Kefelonia, a larger island to the north of us.
We are still enjoying the quiet life of books and really great meals. I hope to make Greek salad like this when I get home. Last night we had Feta cheese with mint wrapped in phyllo pastry along with tomato jam. MMMMM! We are well and happy. Can't wait to see you, J&V. It's all just plain food.

Likewise, a lovely full golden yellow moon here - the last one of Winter! We will have -4 tonight! Definitely on the countdown now. Much love.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the Greek salad, Geo. Feta cheese with mint sounds quite delish also. We'll bring the vegemite! :)
ReplyDeleteso glad you finally got to Greece! Sounds like you found the perfect place.
