Gaudi - Part 2

After lunch, we went to Casa Batllo.
Between 1906-07, Gaudi completely transformed this house for the wealthy Batllo family. Not a believer in straight, flat surfaces, he banished them from the house.
Not even the doors and windows are straight.

The family lived on the 1st and 2nd floors. The other 4 floors had 2 rental apartments each. A roof to basement sky well brings light into all the interior rooms.
From ground floor entrance to the roof, a dragon winds up through the building.

There were so many things to marvel at but my favourite was the courting nook just outside the salon - one seat for the chaperone and a bench for the courting couple
My own sweetie pie sat outside and waited for me. He was Gaudied out at this point.

  2. For some reason this architecture makes me think of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. I can't help but smile. :) It is delightful!
