The Eyes Of The Fishing Boat

My dear wife was shorn today. She went over to Victoria this morning and had her hair offed. She said that she had had enough of her hair blowing in her face. So, "Off from her head!"

Meanwhile her old house husband was making chicken soup for our souls. After lunch we walked to the next village, about 10 minutes away, and took the bus to Marsalforn. This seems to be Gozo's version of condo city. It seems to have been created over the last few years and has a bank of condos around a beautiful little bay.

We walked along the water's edge dodging waves and splashes. It started to rain a bit so we took a little refreshment in a seaside cafe. Then we walked down to look at the row of colourful fishing boats. They are called Luzzus. They are said to owe their design to the ancient Phoenicians who arrived in Malta about 800 BC. The Eye of Osiris, an ancient symbol of protection against evil is painted on each one.

We took the bus back and walked home in the rain.
